Scripture Prayer

Psalm 108: 1-6

I am determined, O God! I will sing and praise you with my whole heart.
Awake, O stringed instrument and harp! I will wake up at dawn!
I will give you thanks before the nations, O Lord! I will sing praises to you before foreigners!
For your loyal love extends beyond the sky, and your faithfulness reaches the clouds.
Rise up above the sky, O God! May your splendor cover the whole earth!
Deliver by your power and answer me, so that the ones you love may be safe.

Lord, we worship you and we praise you with all our hearts. We praise you early in the morning and mid-day and night fall and late in the evening. We give you thanks for your loyal love and faithfulness. And we thank You Lord for the ministry of Father Shaw and Mother Julie and Lydia Mudge in Peru. Thank you for the seeds that they have planted and the things that they have done for you. Keep them safe as they travel back to the U.S. Make their preparations easy as they deal with luggage, packing, book arrangements and apartment matters. May there be a glorious celebration at La Ascension in Surco this Sunday, Lord. May your splendor be especially evident! And guide the Mudges into those new things that you would have them do for you.

Prayer Mail

Dear Friends in Prayer,
Peace be with you.

This is our public prayer mail for this week. Happy longest/shortest day of the year (depending on your hemisphere of residence), and the start of summer/winter (also depending on your hemisphere of residence).

Thanksgivings, during this past week:

1) Julie Mudge and I had a great anniversary celebration, and we enjoyed celebrating Lydia´s graduation at the same time.

2) Lydia has graduated high school, and is in the process of saying good-bye to folks like her who are being launched across the globe.

Highlights of graduation can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdYYklMw_y4
(8 minutes along. It takes a while to load.)

3) We are winding down here in preparation for our travel to the US. Less than two weeks to go. I cannot believe it. We leave behind seeds that have been planted. Things done for our Lord.

4) I enjoyed Father´s Day. Great conversations with friends and family.

Prayers, for this coming week:

1) We have a Chapter meeting at the Cathedral on Tuesday evening, and we have a closing out celebration scheduled at La Ascension in Surco on Sunday.

2) Please keep in prayer our luggage, packing, book arrangements and apartment matters over the next few weeks. Things are going smoothly, but still a ways to go.

Your prayers make a difference, and I pray for you daily.

God bless you.
In Christ,
Shaw and on behalf of Julie and Lydia.

Scripture Prayer

1Samuel 3: 9

So Eli said to Samuel, “Go back and lie down. When he calls you say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went back and lay down in his place.

Lord, your servants, Father Shaw and Mother Julie Mudge, are asking that you speak clearly to them. They ask for a word of knowledge, an inflooding of Jesus’ presence and his certainty about what path to take as part of the next phase of their ministry. Just as Samuel said, “Here I am, Lord”, so the Mudges are in your presence awaiting their orders. Let them hear You calling them in the night. Paraphrasing a favorite song, “They will go, Lord, if You lead them. They will hold Your people in their hearts.” Let Your Holy Spirit guide them into the next chapter of their work for You.

And be with them, Lord, as they deal with all the minutiae of leaving Peru and coming back to the U.S. Guide them as they make arrangements for packing and luggage and apartment matters and donating books and book shelves to Bishop Michael Chapman’s ministry in Peru.

And Lord, we ask special prayers for Lydia Mudge as she graduates from high school and gets ready for college. Thank You for the part that she played in the Mudges’ Ministry in Lima, Peru. Amen.

June Newsletter

A time to celebrate!

Since we last wrote, we have been preparing for our trip to the US, which begins on the 4th of July. It has been a time of celebration, and reflection. We like Peru, and we like the US. So, we find ourselves both excited about our plans ahead over the next few months, and a bit sad about the adventure that we leave behind, a mixture typical for every time we depart and typical missionary transition stuff.

We have visited Machu Picchu, an awesome archaeological site on the "eyebrow of the jungle" in the sierras.

Lydia finished her high school classes, attended her senior prom, and will be graduating this week. That is a major milestone. We are very pleased.

Julie and I have celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. An awesome event with an awesome companion. I have enjoyed the adventure, and I have reenlisted with my best friend (my beloved) for what could be 30 more years (but I can not believe the numbers are getting as high as 30).

Peru has just had final round of presidential election voting. The new President takes office on my birthday which is also the Peruvian independence day, towards the end of July. So, Peru is preparing for a celebration.

Now that Lydia is about to enter college, Julie and I will be taking time over the next few months to prepare for that as well as to prepare for what an empty-nest Mudge household would be like. Lord willing, we plan on a fruitful ministry adventure together, with the supporting cast of friends and family, people like you.

Julie and I have had a consistent number-one desire over the course of our lives together. It is this, and it is our prayer, which we would like you to pray with us, as a way of celebrating the adventure in the Holy Spirit with us: "we would like a word of knowledge and in-flooding of the presence of Jesus Christ, a certainty about what it is that we are supposed to be doing."

God bless you, and thank you for your continuing support! I pray for you, every day.

Shaw+, and on behalf of Julie+ and Lydia

Prayer Mail

Dear Friends in Prayer,

Peace be with you. And, for the people attending the Albany Diocesan Convention, I hope you have been having a great time.

This is our public prayer mail for this week.

Thanksgivings, during this past week:

1) Julie and I are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary on the 13th of June. That is a big number, and yes we are having a special dinner. It seems like only yesterday that we tied the knot, and I am looking forward to the next 30....

2) Lydia has finished her high school work, and enjoyed the senior prom. Next stop, graduation, later this week. The special celebration above, will also be for Lydia's finishing high school. I am impressed by what she has done.

3) Thank you for praying that special prayer last week. The results have been awesome.

Prayers, for this coming week:

1) Please keep us in prayer through the meetings and celebrations coming up, as we move closer to our arrival in the US on the 4th of July.

2) Please keep in prayer our luggage, packing, apartment matters, and book arrangements over the next few weeks.

3) A cold has begun making the rounds in our family, and we are in various stages of recovery. Please pray for healing.

4) As Julie and I enter a new phase of our life, with all these transitions going on, we would appreciate your continued prayer for the word of knowledge, and inflooding of Jesus' presence and his certainty about which path to take as part of the next phase of our adventure together.

Your prayers make a difference, and I pray for you daily.
God bless you.
In Christ,
Shaw, and on behalf of Julie and Lydia.

Scripture Prayer

Ezekiel 11:16b

Although I have removed them far away among the nations and have dispersed them among the countries, I have been a little sanctuary for them among the lands where they have gone.

Ezekiel 11:19

I will give them one heart and I will put a new spirit within them. I will remove the hearts of stone from their bodies and I will give them tender hearts.

Father God, we thank You that You have been a sanctuary and an always presence with Father Shaw and Mother Julie and Lydia Mudge as they served You in Peru. We ask Lord that You send a word of knowledge and an inflooding or more of your presence as the Mudges await to hear from You about their new path. Thank You that You will give them one tender heart with a refilling of Your Holy Spirit. And we ask for your help in some of the practical matters as well: luggage, packing, apartment matters and book arrangements. Bless Lydia as she graduates from high school and gets ready for college in the Boston area. We praise You, Father, Son and Holy Ghost for every good gift that you have bestowed upon the Mudges. Amen.

God bless you.

In Christ,
Shaw, and on behalf of Julie and Lydia.
