Prayer Mail
Dear Partners in prayer,
This is our weekly public prayer mail.
We hope you are having a blessed Lent.
This week's overview:
1) I have just finished developing an Old Testament context course. Now, I move on to an "Introduction to Anglicanism course" which I will be teaching in Belize in May. Julie is working on a Biblical Interpretation course. Pray that all would be the kind of courses that Jesus has in mind for the students' needs.
2) Now that the dust has settled on our schedule, we have a much better idea of when one of us will be available to visit parishes and make missionary presentations, cover for supply clergy, anywhere in the Diocese, as long as the other of us is in the North Country. Please pray for God's plans for the respective parishes and for us, that all be done to the glory of God.
3) I am applying for a fellowship to support our mission work, to complete our financial needs. Pray that everything would done to the glory of God and that all the recommendation letters and paperwork arrives on time. I leave the outcome in the Lord's hands.
4) We get comments from people every once in a while, letting us know that we keep people more informed than other missionaries. Part of that is because we need prayer, every day. The Lord answered our prayers about the Tanzanian trip. I am scheduled to head there in late April, and go from there immediately to Belize in May.
5) One of the more common questions that people ask us is "where are you?" In my quiet time, the Holy Spirit compared what I am doing to the schedule of the Apostle Philip in Acts 8: the Lord takes us where he wants us. Our upcoming schedule is very complex, including possible holding an interactive session from Tanzania for students in Belize. Pray that the Lord will have us be a blessing through it all, and that his blessing be passed along to others as a result of where he places us.
Prayer requests:
1) For the students and their families, may the Holy Spirit transform, heal them, and empower them for ministry by what they learn and by what we teach. May what they learn be applied in God's ways, throughout their respective dioceses and denominations.
2) For North Country plans, as well as travel plans for the SAMS missionary retreat in early April, Western Tanganyika in late April, Belize in mid-May, and Albany Diocesan Convention in June.
3) For my meeting with the Bishop of the Diocese of Western Tanganyika next weekend, in the US.
4) For our parish schedule, that we be in the right place at the right time, and that people may be inspired by what we do. For Holy Week planning in Ogdensburg.
5) For a resolution to the health insurance issue, God's way.

Prayer Mail
Dear partners in prayer,
This is our weekly public prayer mail.
We hope you are having a blessed Lent.
This week's overview:
1) Current courses are moving forward; we are preparing the next round of courses that begin after Easter.
2) I am resuming Swahili lessons and refreshing my Latin American Spanish.
3) We are in the process of developing our parish visitation schedule. Our Mudge Mission office is going to be split between supply at St. John's Ogdensburg over the next few months, starting March 5th, as well as: a) visiting parishes in the North Country, and b) as well as visiting parishes in the regions farther south, nearer Albany. The current plan allows us to take mission trips and allows us to continue with our online teaching.
4) How does the schedule work? While either one of us is at St. John's, the other will be available to be out and about, to visit parishes in the St. Lawrence Deanery, as well as the Metropolitan Deanery and surrounding deaneries, as well as mission trips and related matters. We have already had a few requests from parishes nearer to home. We are open to requests from North and South.
A little of this, a little of that, and the mission boat floats. It all helps.
5) We are still working on the medical insurance issue, but we have a short term plan for the time being.
Prayer requests:
1) For the students and their families, may the Holy Spirit transform them by what they learn and by what we teach. May what they learn be applied in God's ways.
2) For travel plans for the SAMS missionary retreat in early April, Western Tanganyika in late April, and Belize in mid-May.
3) You prayers for the Tanzanian trip would be appreciated, especially, as the plans just got complicated due to the health of a relative of one the key participants for making the Tanzanian trip happen. Please pray for the person's health situation. I may have to go to plan B with regards to planning the trip. It may be too early to tell yet, but time is moving closer to when we need to make decisions.
4) For my meeting with the Bishop of the Diocese of Western Tanganyika on the weekend of March 2nd, in the US.
5) For our parish schedule, that we be in the right place at the right time, and that people may be inspired by what we do.

Newsletter
Missionary Impact 2013.
San Ignacio, Belize, Central America.
I am sometimes amazed by the impact that we sometimes have on other people. This was brought home to me this past week in two ways.
1) Julie was in contact with a Julie-Ann, a student. Julie-Ann said that a word study observation technique that she had learned from Julie, Julie-Ann was teaching to her parish Christian Education class in Belize. That is even before our current course is half-way over. That is an immediate effect of what we are doing for God. Fantastic. Praise God.
Simply put, what we teach to our students is being applied in congregations, to help people grow into the fullness of Christ, and applied right away. It is a ripple effect. This is awesome, to actually hear what God is doing in Belize because of us.
2) I was talking with the Chairman of the Commission on Ministry in Belize last week, and he said that the Commission on Ministry is doing things, but the main focus is our program. Also, he mentioned that I am thought very highly of, by people in Belize, because of our program. This is very humbling, which is appropriate for Lent.
Other news: our mission base camp in the Albany diocese will be relocating upstate for about 4 months, and during this time, I plan travel to Tanzania and Belize, as well as make a stop at the SAMS retreat and the New Wineskins Conference (networking opportunities for us).
During our temporary stay at St. John’s, Ogdensburg, both of us will be helping out as a supply clergy team. This gives each of us the opportunity to contact and visit parishes in the North Country; and the plan is to continue our mission work via Internet in the North Country at the same time.
My learning basic Swahili and maintenance of Latin American Spanish, continues.
Contributions to SAMS for our missionary support goes for both our living and missionary expenses in the US and other countries, just as if we were full-time living in another country and visiting the US.

Prayer Mail Feb 11

This is our weekly public prayer mail.
Have a blessed Lent and a happy Valentines Day!
This week's overview:
1) Current courses are moving forward; we are preparing for the next round of courses that follow. My proposal for diocesan vocation week in Belize (mid-May) coincides with the Bishop's intentions, there. His theme will be "Anglicans: a people for the times." He would like me to teach this as an "Introduction to Anglicanism", the course for the week, and he may set up a meeting where I and a few others would talk about Anglicanism on TV.
2) We are in the process of developing our parish schedule. Our Mudge Mission office may move to the North Country of the Diocese of Albany for a bit. This would give us an opportunity to visit with different parishes in the North Country.
3) We are still working on the medical insurance issue, but we have a short term plan.
4) I have heard from the Chairman of the Commission on Ministry in Belize this week that our online education program has become a major blessing. Apparently, the focus of the Commission on Ministry is centering its work around what we are doing.
5) I have signed up for the SAMS retreat/New Wineskins Conference combination that our SAMS missionaries attend every three years. Think of it as Diocesan Convention for Missionaries.
6) Thank you for your continuing friendship and support, in prayers, conversation, and materially. They have been a blessing to us.
Prayer requests:
1) For the students and their families, that what they learn may be applied in the power of the Holy Spirit. We hear wonderful stories of how our techniques are being practiced in parish settings.
2) For travel plans for the SAMS missionary retreat in early April, Western Tanganyika in late April, and Belize in mid-May.
3) For our parish schedule, that we be in the right place at the right time, and that people may be inspired by what we do.
4) For a resolution to the health insurance issue, God's way.

Luke 2:40
And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was on him.
Father God, we know how much You loved your Son, Jesus. Your favor was on Him and he grew strong and was filled with wisom. Lord, we ask your favor upon Father Shaw and Mother Julie and all their students in Belize. May these precious children of Yours grow in holy wisdom everyday. Amen.
