Scripture Prayer

Colossians 1: 9-12

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,  being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.

Father God, we continually ask You to fill Father Shaw with the knowledge of your will.  May your Holy Spirit grant him all wisdom and understanding so that he may live a worthy life and be pleasing to You in every way.  May Father Shaw’s work bear fruit for You while he and his students grow in knowledge of You.  May they be strengthened with all power, having great endurance and patience.  May they have joyful hearts as they share your message of salvation and invite people into the kingdom of light.

Father God, we also ask for a wonderful conclusion to Father Shaw’s latest trip to Belize and a safe journey home.  Many of us look forward to seeing him and Julie at the Diocesan Convention.  Bless us all, Lord.  Amen.

Prayer Mail

Dear partners in prayer,
This is our public prayer mail for May 26.
Happy Easter season, as we head to Ascension Day!
This week's selective overview:

This week I have been meeting with people in the ordination program, amid many other opportunities and projects.
I have enhanced the Diocesan Web page, providing the Diocesan office with an opportunity to send out periodic calendar updates to the clergy and key individuals in the Diocese by email.
At their request, I also set up separate email addresses for each of the diocesan staff. Not everyone is equally well versed in this, but I think it can be a useful contact for the ones who need it, addresses available on the Web page.
I enabled the diocesan staff to be able to send out a clergy and parish directory from time to time, as needed to clergy and lay leaders.
I also involved in a variety of diocesan planning meetings, from a proposed diocesan-wide pastoral care program to providing the diocesan office with a candidate who could review the CPWI Spanish prayer book version in the works, not just for Belize, but for the entire Province, and perhaps beyond. Julie and I both came up with the same name. I hope it works out. Pray for this project. It has been in the works for over 6 years.
I celebrated at a mid-week Cathedral service, and preached, and gave a homily for the faculty of the Anglican Cathedral College, here. It is the end of the school year.

I led a day long workshop for people discerning the ordination process. Interest continues to grow in the call of God on people's lives as well as for interest in our courses.
All this in addition to reports on the candidates, and preparing for the events of the week. From Tanzania, I have heard that we may have a new student in Kasulu for our program. I hope so.
Prayer requests:
1) Pray for the trip, for accomplishing what the Holy Spirit would guide those of us involved to do. Safe and timely travel continues to be a good prayer.
2) Pray for the course development work, teaching workload, ministry opportunities, people considering lay vocations, students and faculty. Pray for program discussions that may be taking place in Kasulu, Tanzania, this week.
3) Pray for our online learning management software upgrade next month. Apparently, it could be very exciting, an adventure.
4) Pray for Julie and my our upcoming plans and for our parish visitation schedule. We will have a booth at the Diocese of Albany Convention. Drop by the booth.

Thank you for your prayers. I sense God's presence because of them, and God bless you.
In Christ,
Shaw+, and on behalf of Julie+
I pray for you, everyday. Your prayers are making a difference in Belize and elsewhere.

Scripture Prayer

Psalm 57: 9-11

  I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.
 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.

Father God, today we pray for Father Shaw Mudge and for all that he does for you in Belize, in New York, in Connecticut and for his future work in Spanish speaking countries and in Tanzania. May his work everywhere show your glory.

We pray for his current trip to Belize.  Keep him safe, Lord.  May he truly make a difference to all with whom he comes in contact.  Continue to guide him with your Holy Spirit, Lord and may all his travel be safe and timely.

For his family a in the US.  Bless them Lord.  Open the doors that need opening so that each family member might fulfill your will for them.

For the people in Belize who need the Holy Spirit’s guidance and Jesus’ healing touch.  May Father Shaw and Bishop Philip be instrumental in accomplishing this objective.

We will praise You, Lord among the nations;
We will sing of You among the peoples.
For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.

Amen.

Prayer Mail

Dear partners in prayer,

This is our public prayer mail for May 20.

Happy Easter season!

This week's selective overview:

I have arrived in Belize, and Bishop Philip has a full agenda for me. We have had some changes in the schedule already. Flexibility, Organization, and sense of humor - vital for missionaries. So is the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Yesterday, I attended a workshop for Catechists and Youth Chaplains, had a meeting with a person in the ordination process (including an interview over dinner with both spouses). Have been catching up with submitted documentation for various people in the ordination process.

Students consider our online program vital. And many more people seem interested in our public links as well as our courses, especially for learning about Anglicanism, whether in ordination or licensing processes or just for their own personal improvement. So, I am factoring the particular interests into what is ahead. Meanwhile, in another part of the world, our Spanish Anglican focus has begun active development this week.

Back in Belize, as part of my constantly morphing schedule, yesterday, the Bishop sought my opinion on a matter, and I had a briefing on recent developments.

I introduced the Bishop and attendees at the workshop to the Anglican Daily Office Web site that I created over the past few weeks, to help people with Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer according to the rites and holy days of the Church in the Province of the West Indies (creation is still in process, but a great deal has been completed).

Touched base with students. I also talked about aspects of the vocational and ordination processes, and what we offer as a help to folks.

Always a joy to catch up with lay people and clergy, here. Today, touched based with quite a few people at the Cathedral in Belize City, more people in the vocational and ordination processes, including an update on a business venture. Touched base with Cursillistas. Prayed for healing for perhaps 50 people, individually, at the 6:30 am and 8:30 am Cathedral healing services. Gave about 25 young people individual blessings.

Discovered that my 5 minute address to teachers at an Anglican school last visit was remembered to this day and was considered quite good. Praise God. I was asked to address the 7:30 am assembly tomorrow at the same Anglican school.

And today is only half-over. There is quite a bit to go.

Discovered that a person that I had prayed for who had a stroke the last time I was here, is up and about so well (and having seen the person today), I would not have known that that person had had a stroke. Praise God.

My agenda this trip is unfolding hour by hour. My frequent trips to Belize are making me a regular in the Diocese, in a very positive way. It is always interesting. The Holy Spirit is very much part of this trip. Thank you for your prayers and your support.

Prayer requests:

1) Pray for the trip, for accomplishing what the Holy Spirit would guide those of us involved to do. Safe and timely travel would be good prayer. We are leaving scheduling in God's hands.

2) Pray for the course development work, teaching workload, ministry opportunities, people considering lay vocations, students and faculty. Pray for program discussions that may be taking place in Kasulu, Tanzania, this week.

3) Pray for Julie and my our upcoming plans and for our parish visitation schedule. We will have a booth at the Diocese of Albany Convention. Drop by the booth.

4) I have heard two stories about theft, since my arrival. One in Belmopan and one in Belize City. Please pray for those involved: thieves, victims, and the authorities.

5) Tensions may be running a bit high over certain issues across the country. Pray that God's plans for everyone in the country would prevail.

6) Pray for people in Belize who need the Holy Spirit's guidance and Jesus' healing touch. It is part of what we do, praying for folks, and here is an opportunity for you (as you desire) to enter into this aspect of our mission work as a ministry prayer partner with us.

Thank you, and God bless you.

May Newsletter

Mudge Missionary Newsletter. May 2014. Making Disciples Who Make a Difference.

A great team with whom to work.

We have a great team of volunteer faculty who help make the online portion of what I do a success. To date, there are three English speaking faculty and the latest faculty member to join us (this month) is bilingual (English being his second language). We are building a stronger base to expand into the Spanish speaking regions around us in neighboring countries to Belize, in addition to a stronger mission outreach to the Belizean hispanohablante community, itself. Thus, we are all a part of a greater global network, for each of the faculty also teaches or is in the process of teaching in a seminary environment in other countries around the world
while working with us.

God bless you in Jesus' Name,

Prayer Mail

Dear partners in prayer,

This is our public prayer mail for May 14.

Happy Easter season!

This week's selective overview:

I continued to work on missionary online projects and to prepare for the upcoming trip to Belize.

Prayer requests:

1) Pray for my upcoming mission trip to Belize, Central America (which begins towards the latter half of this week), and for accomplishing what the Holy Spirit would guide those of us involved to do. Safe and timely travel would be good prayer, both back and forth to/from Belize as well as on the ground in Belize.

I will do my best to keep in touch, but the usual communications channels are never fully guaranteed. If something should happen/fail to happen, keep praying as Jesus' guides.

2) Pray for the course development work, for people considering lay vocations, for students and for faculty. Pray for upcoming program discussions that may be taking place in Kasulu, Tanzania, and in Belize.

Lord God, we thank You for the ministry of Fr. Shaw Mudge.  We continue to pray for him, asking that You fill him with the knowledge of your will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives.  May Fr. Shaw live a life worthy and pleasing to You in every way.  May he bear fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of You, and being strengthened with all power according to your glorious might.  May he have great endurance and patience, and give joyful thanks to You, Lord, for your glorious kingdom of light.

We pray for Fr. Juan Marentes and the part that he is playing in translating Fr. Shaw’s teaching materials into Spanish.  We pray for the upcoming mission trip to Belize and for some progress in the discussions about Fr. Shaw’s involvement with ministry education in Kasulu, Tanzania.

Lord, continue to help and guide the Mudge family as they discern your will in making some important decisions.  Please open doors for them to help them fulfill your will for them.

Amen.

Dear partners in prayer,

This is our public prayer mail for May 6.

Happy Easter season!

This week's selective overview:

This week we began our first step in the direction of expanding our online program in more of a hispanohablante direction with Fr. Juan Marentes coming on board, which would make our program accessible to more people in Belize as well as neighboring countries. For example, from time to time, we have had requests for course materials in Spanish such as from people in Belize, Mexico and Honduras.

I continue to work on missionary online projects and prepare for the upcoming trip to Belize.

Prayer requests:

1) Pray for my upcoming mission trip to Belize (soon), and for accomplishing what God has asked me to do in Belize.

2) Pray for the course development work, for people considering lay vocations, for students and for faculty. And pray for upcoming program discussions that may be taking place in Kasulu over the month of May.

3) Pray for our parish visitation schedule in the US and in Belize.

4) Prayers for discernment. Several family members need God's help, and/or his guidance, and to open doors that God wants to be opened.

In Christ,

Shaw+, and on behalf of Julie+
I pray for you, everyday.

Scripture Prayer

Psalm 20: 1-5

May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble!
May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!
May he send you help from the sanctuary
And give you support from Zion!
May he remember all your offerings
And regard with favor your burnt sacrifices!
May he grant you your heart’s desire
And fulfill all your plans!
May we shout for joy over your salvation
And in the name of our God set up our banners!
May the Lord fulfill all your petitions!

Lord God, Heavenly Father, we ask for Father Shaw Mudge all the joy and benefit of abiding with You.  May You answer him in the day of trouble.  May You send him help from the sanctuary and give him every support that he needs.  Please remember and regard with favor all the work that he does for You.  Grant him his heart’s desire and fulfill all his plans and petitions.  We will shout for joy for every encounter that results in people of Belize growing in your love.

Lord, we ask for your favor on the newer global aspects of Father Shaw’s ministry: on the translation of the teaching materials into Spanish and for advances in opportunities to minister in Kasulu.  Most of all, help him in his preparation for the trip to Belize in mid-May.  And bless and guide all of the Mudges as they proceed with their projects dedicated to You.

Amen.
