Scripture Prayer

Psalm 16:11

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forever more.

Lord, we thank You for the path of life that you are making known to Father Shaw and Mother Julie Mudge. Lead them in their preparations for site visits to Uganda and Kenya. May they feel your presence and that fullness of joy. May they find pleasure in serving You according to your will.

We pray also for Lydia as she finishes one more paper. We pray Lord that you smooth out the bumps as she gets acclimated to college once again. May she have smooth sailing during the Spring semester. Thank You Lord.

Amen.

Prayer Mail

Dear Prayer friends,
Peace be with you.
This is our public prayer mail for this week.

It is great to be praying with you at the beginning of Epiphany season. I wonder what the Lord will reveal to us all in our prayers.

The Week in Review (please pray as you read this):

1) We attended a memorial service of a friend of Lydia's on Saturday. All of us attended services at Christ Church in Schenectady on Sunday, and Julie and I attended Fr. Stephen's installation at St. John's in Troy on Sunday afternoon. All three services were to the glory of God.

2) Tickets have been purchased for our missionary site-visit trip to Uganda and Kenya in February. Malaria meds have been purchased, and visa applications have been sent in. Itineraries have been set up.

3) Lydia update. She has completed one paper, and is working on the second, as part of closing out her Fall semester. The Spring semester begins in mid-January. She is fine with mom and dad eventually setting up camp in either Uganda or Kenya.

4) We are making headway in planning parish visits from the end of March into June.

Additional prayers:

1) For Discernment. Choosing the right mission site; this is an on-going prayer between now and when we make our decision, after our return from Africa.

2) For finances. Please pray for God's provision.

3) Lydia's final paper.

4) Prayer for our planning, logistics, safe and timely travel, good health during the site visits. We need to firm up our accommodations for the night of January 31st in Nairobi.

5) For the visa process.

6) That we minister effectively, as Jesus would want us to, in the course His plans for us.

God bless you, and I continue to pray for you every day. Your prayers make a difference.

In Christ,
Shaw+ and on behalf of Julie+

Scripture Prayer

Colossians 1: 9-12

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased praying for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.

Lord, since they have started their mission work for You, we have not ceased praying for Fr. Shaw and Mother Julie Mudge. Thank You for your faithfulness in sending them blessings in the past, right now, and in the future as well: that they be filled with the knowledge of your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. May they continue to walk in a manner worthy of You, fully pleasing to You, and bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in their knowledge of You. May they be strengthened with all power, according to your glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy. May they always give thanks to You, as they continue to shine your light into all of the world. Amen!

Specifically, Lord, we pray that You guide Father Shaw and Mother Julie as they plan their site visits to Uganda and Kenya. Lead them Lord, into that mission field where You want them to use their God given gifts for the spread of Your Word. Keep them safe, Lord. And we pray for Lydia as well. Help her to finish the work for her first semester and help her to start the second semester with a burst of enthusiasm. Give her your joy and peace and may she never forget about your unconditional love for her. Amen. Amen.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. (I believe it is the 9th day of Christmas season.)

1) We enjoyed our visits with our relatives in Connecticut. Then, upon arriving back, we were saddened to learn of a tragic death of one of Lydia's friends that occurred shortly before Christmas.

2) Kenyan plans are being included in our site visit. As of today, our upcoming site visit trip to Africa is slated to include two locations in Uganda and one location in Kenya. We are in the process of arranging for our travel tickets.

3) Our financial situation is looking a bit better. Keep on prayin'! Things are looking up.

Additional prayers:

1) For Discernment. Choosing the right mission site. Discernment for what needs to be done over the first half of 2012 while on home assignment, in preparation for our long-term assignment overseas.

2) For finances. Please pray for God's provision.

3) Lydia has some catch-up work to do in January, before next semester. Prayers for timely and good completion of her semester's work.

In Christ,
Shaw+ and on behalf of Julie+

Scripture Prayer

Hebrews 11:1

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

By faith, Lord, we know that the Mudges are in your hands. You are with them 24/7, guiding them every step of the way. We thank You for their faith in You and for your faith in them.

Lord, we trust that You will be with them when they travel to Africa, and you will lead them to that mission field where You want them to minister. Help Father Shaw and Mother Julie to always know that they can depend on You.

Lord, we also pray for Lydia and all the things that she is going through right now. Please help her to feel your presence. Help her to focus on the college work that she needs to finish before returning to Gordon College.

Grant the Mudge family some sweet times of togetherness as they are gathered together during this Christmas season. And bless them mightily and keep them safe in 2012. Thank You, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Prayer Mail

Dear Prayer friends,

Peace be with you.
This is our Christmas public prayer mail:

Hope you are having a Merry Christmas season. Hope you have a great New Year's celebration, as you are able.

The Week in Review (please pray as you read this):

1) The Ven. David Collum invited us to con-celebrate with him at the mid-night service at All Saints Cathedral in Albany. It was a really great occasion.

2) Our trip to Uganda has settled down to the first two weeks in February. We are leaving space open on either side of that for any pending Kenya plans.

3) We will start to set up tentative parish visit plans over the next few weeks.

Additional prayers:

1) I would ask you to pray Psalm 91 daily for us, not only for the short-term trip to Africa, but also over our entire preparation time (I have included a copy at the end of the prayer mail).

2) For Discernment. Choosing the right location, based on our site-visit. What needs to be done over the course of the next year, in preparation for our long-term assignment.

3) For Finances. We are SAMS missionaries on home assignment, even as we prepare for our next venture. Please pray for God's provision for this venture.

4) For college work. Lydia has some catch-up work to do in January, before next semester. Prayers for timely and good completion of her semester's work would be appreciated.

5) Setting up and logistics of site visits. We are praying for the right guide in Uganda, to help us get around, show how the bus system works, etc.

6) For the necessary visas, and other matters in preparation for our site visit.

7) Safe and timely travel during our site-visit trip: back and forth to Uganda, and on location.

8) That Jesus would shine through what we do. That we minister effectively, as He would want us to, in the course of His visits, His planning, and His long-term plans for us.

God bless you, and I continue to pray for you every day. Your prayers matter to us.
In Christ,
Shaw+ and on behalf of Julie+

Psalm 91

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."
3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you say, “The LORD is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

Scripture Prayer

Psalm 96: 1-4

Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth!
Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous words among all the peoples!
For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods.

Lord, as we celebrate this season of your birth, we thank You for the new life that You have brought to Father Shaw and Mother Julie Mudge. Thank You that You have spoken to the Mudges and set their sights on a mission in Uganda or Kenya. There they will declare your glory and share your marvelous words among all the peoples. Thank You for the new song; and thank You for the greatest gift of all, the gift of salvation. Great You are Lord and so awesome too!

Be with the whole Mudge family, Lord, as they celebrate Christmas together. May they have a loving time. Continue to guide them into the mission that you have planned for them. Thank You that all three daughters can celebrate Christmas with their parents. Thank You for Hannah’s exciting news about her Troy mission. Please help Lydia to get organized and finish her Fall semester work during the January break.

Jesus, we especially ask You to shine through everything that the Mudges do. Help them to minister effectively in your name. Help them to plan their site visits in Africa and to further discern your long-term plans for them.

To God be the glory! Amen.
