Prayer Mail

Dear partners in prayer,
This is our weekly public prayer mail.

This week's selective overview:

a) Registrations are upon us for the next courses. We are off to a good start.

b) We had a great time at the regional mission conference yesterday in the Diocese of Albany. Our slot was right after lunch, the usual slump time for most listeners. My high energy pace apparently shattered the slump barrier. We had a great time.

c) I have begun the remaining 4/10th of a century. Thank you for all the birthday well wishes.

Prayer requests:

1) For the upcoming parish visits, our upcoming schedule. That God's will be done.

2) For the Online Anglican Theological College program and all that needs to be done.

3) For the program's participants and contributors (present and future). That the Holy Spirit would touch the lives of everyone involved through their contact with the program.

4) Prayer for continuing and expanding support.

God bless you, and thank you for praying. I pray for you every day.

In Christ,
Shaw+, and on behalf of Julie+

Scripture Prayer

Psalm 16:11

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forever more.

Father God, there are so many reasons to thank and praise You and this verse provides three of them. We thank You, Lord, that You make known the path of life; that in your presence is fullness of joy; and that at your right hand are pleasures forever more.

We thank You for the guidance that you send to Father Shaw and Mother Julie Mudge. Thank You for showing them your plans for their mission. Be with them as they prepare new courses, give presentations at churches and missions conferences, and as Father Shaw plans for an October trip to Belize.

We thank You for the gifts of joy and pleasure. May these be evident as Shaw celebrates his big birthday and as the Mudges get ready for a little vacation time.

We thank You, Lord, that You make known the path of life; that in your presence is fullness of joy; and that at your right hand are pleasures forever more. Amen.

Scripture Prayer

Psalm 118:24

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Lord, we rejoice in all the blessings of this day. We rejoice in your creation. We rejoice that You have given life to us. We rejoice for the eternal life that You have promised through the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Your Son Jesus Christ for all who believe in Him. And we rejoice that You give us the privilege of serving You.

We rejoice for the ministries of Father Shaw and Mother Julie Mudge. We thank You that You have called them to minister to the future spiritual leaders in Tanzania and Belize. We pray for your continued guidance for them and for your continued provision for their needs. And we pray for some rest and relaxation as they settle back in the Capital District of New York and then as they travel to see family in Maine.

Thank You Lord, for the beauty of the summer months and for the gift of renewal and refreshment. Amen.

“Entrepreneurial”

.

I was born and raised in an entrepreneurial atmosphere. In fact, my father was called “the epitome of the American Entrepreneur” at a meeting of entrepreneurs. I worked in entrepreneurial businesses before entering the ministry. Being entrepreneurial is part of who I am.

Our missionary lifestyle, whether in Belize or Tanzania, is an entrepreneurial form of God’s incarnational love. In our Online Anglican Theological College program (OATC), we pass along wisdom from God: how to use spiritual gifts and how to apply natural abilities that other people may know that Jesus is the Son of God and, by believing, they may have eternal life (Ephesians 4:11-16).

What constitutes entrepreneurial ministry? A willingness to be like Abraham, doing something new that no one else has done before. A steadfastness like the prophets, who hung in there with God even when the challenges were great. Leadership qualities that Paul mentions in his letters. Joy as expressed in Psalm 150. The movement of the Holy Spirit that created New Testament Church was entrepreneurial, and so is the cutting edge of the Church, today.

OATC participants are entrepreneurial visionaries like Paul. We are encouragers like Barnabas. We are educators in apostolic and missionary ministry like Priscilla and Aquila. We help people grow churches and to reach out to people in the community with the Gospel like Peter. We take reasonable risks when sharing the love of Christ, wisely, like Philip. We are part of the incarnation of what Christ Jesus is doing in the world, like Apollos, Erastus, Phoebe, Timothy, Titus, Tryphena, and Tryphosa.

OATC is helping train disciples to spread the Gospel and build up the Church. Our participants are leaders in their parishes.

Our ministry is not for the faint of heart. It is part of the cutting edge. It is entrepreneurial.

Ways to support us.
Your prayers and financial partnering with us help make our ministry happen.

Scripture Prayer

Psalm 22: 26b-27

Those who seek him shall praise the Lord! May your hearts live forever! All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations shall worship before you.

Lord, we thank You for the perseverance of Father Shaw and Mother Julie Mudge as they continue in the development and delivery of theological courses to the people of Belize and Tanzania. We pray for an influx of new students who seek You and seek ways to serve You. May all the students, those continuing and those just starting, have your blessings as they seek You and praise You. May their hearts live forever. May all the ends of the earth, especially Belize and Tanzania and upstate New York remember and turn to You. May all the families of the nations worship before You.

Lord, we also pray for financial provision for the Mudges. May the right people with the right resources come into their lives. Thank You Lord that You do provide! Amen.

Prayer Mail

Dear partners in prayer,
This is our weekly public prayer mail. Have a happy 4th of July.

This week's selective overview:

1) Our online library's "Web stacks" have been reorganized and updated this week. Those links provide solid resources, open to anyone, but especially for faculty in Kasulu and everyone in Belize.

2) Course development continues. I am about to begin creating a New Testament context course.

3) Lydia has finished her first college course (the courses are taken sequentially).

4) I am enjoying the parish visitations.

5) Steps are being made in the direction of materials translation. Since this would be "pro-bono" for the translators, however, it is a bit of a slower time table.

Prayer requests:

1) Keeping up with the balance of course creation, administrative matters, teaching, and our missionary nomadic lifestyle.

2) For the organization and prioritization of upcoming parish visits and speaking engagements. That God's will be done.

3) For faculty, other staff, and students.

4) For translating our materials into Swahili and Spanish.

5) For volunteers who can design a 24/7 course "English as a Second Language".

6) For upcoming mission trips to Belize and Tanzania.

God bless you, and thank you for praying. I pray for you every day. We could not be doing this without you.

In Christ,
Shaw+, and on behalf of Julie+
