Dear partners in prayer,

 

This is a public prayer mail for April 22. 

 

Happy Easter week! Alleluia! Alleluia!

 

This week's selective overview: 

 

Enjoyed Holy Week services.

 

Julie's preaching went very well on Maundy Thursday.

 

Continued to work on an online project.

 

Prayer requests:

 

1) Pray for next mission trip in mid-May, and accomplishing what Bishop Philip has asked me to do.  

 

2) Pray for the proposed new Spanish direction of our online program materials - translation work to begin in May. It has potential to reach beyond Belize.

 

3) Pray for the course development work, for people considering lay vocations, for students and for faculty.

 

4) Pray for our parish visitation schedule, that God would connect us with the places that he would like us to visit.

 

5) Prayers for discernment. Several family members need God's guidance about decisions.

6) I just came back from the dentist for a filling, and I feel "ugh". Prayers for getting back to normal would be appreciated.

Scripture Prayer

Psalm 105: 1-4

 

Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
    make known among the nations what he has done.
 Sing to him, sing praise to him;
    tell of all his wonderful acts.
 Glory in his holy name;
    let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
Look to the Lord and his strength;
    seek his face always.

 

Lord, we start this Easter Season giving praise to You for all your wonderful acts, especially for dying on the cross for our sins. We marvel and are forever grateful that You were resurrected and bring us the hope that we may spend eternity with You.

 

And we thank You for the work of Father Shaw.  He truly makes known what You have done among the nations.  He tells of your wonderful acts, bringing glory to your holy name.  He helps his students to seek You and know how to rejoice.  And these students will become your disciples and tell numerous others of your wonderful acts.  May Father Shaw and his students always look to You for strength and seek your face always.

 

Lord we pray many petitions for Father Shaw: for the parish visitation schedule; for the next mission trip to Belize in May; for the translation of program materials into Spanish; for continued course development; for people considering lay vocations, for students and faculty;  for the clergy to be ordained and the lay people to be licensed in Belize soon; for discernment for family members needing your guidance, Lord.  And most of all, Lord, may the Mudges always make a difference for You.

Global Mission Work.

We are making a difference for the Kingdom of God. Resurrection work. What we do as missionaries has global effects, one person at a time, following the Holy Spirit's lead. What we do affects the lives of quite a few people, such as each person in the photo above, each with his/her own story, whether the cultural background is West Indian, hispanohablante, Mayan, or Garifuna. We make disciples who make disciples by praying, inspiring, interacting, and respecting. Developing rapport. Building the Church. Working together as team members for the Gospel. Your support makes this possible. These key leaders in the Diocese of Belize thank you for your part in making this possible, and so do Julie and I. Your support is one reason why they are smiling. Another reason is that I asked them to smile.

This is a public prayer mail for April 15. 

 

This week's selective overview: 

 

I have been working on several projects for the Bishop of Belize. I am making good progress.

We made our home available to another missionary family.

Preaching went very well on Sunday.

Thank you for praying.

 

Prayer requests:

1) Julie preaches on Maundy Thursday. 

2) Pray for our parish visitation schedule, that God would connect us with the places that he would like us to visit.

Scripture Prayer April 11

Proverbs4:7

The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight.

Holy Spirit, thank You for being with Father Shaw at the Albany Diocese’s priest retreat last Fall and then again at the recent memorial service for Father Terry Fullam in Darien CT.  We pray for discernment, wisdom and insight so that Father Shaw may advance in the mission that You have laid out for him.  We pray about the thrust to make his program more available for Spanish speakers.  And we continue to pray about African nations that may benefit from Father Shaw’s Global Online Anglican Theological College.

Be glorified, Lord, as Father Shaw preaches on Palm Sunday and Mother Julie on Maundy Thursday.  Be with Father Shaw as he prepares materials for parishes in Belize during vocation month in the Easter season.  And give strength and peace and hope to those to be ordained to the clergy or licensed into lay ministry in Belize.  And most of all, Lord,  may the Mudges always make a difference for You.

Dear partners in prayer,

 

This is a public prayer mail for April 8. 

 

This week's selective overview: 

 

Highlights of the week: attending Fr. Everett Fullam's memorial service at St. Paul's in Darien. Awesome. It was a blessed time, and in real-time events during the sermon, there were all the major parts of the vision that I had at the priests' retreat in the Diocese of Albany in the Fall. I suspect God will be doing something. Genesis 41:32 comes to mind. Please keep this in prayer.

We are discerning what has come to me in prayer. My immediate interpretation is that our online ministry is emphasizing the word "global" more. It is already global; but with possible changes coming in the next few months, we are making the scope more obvious by adding the world "global" in front of "Online Anglican Theological College program", so that now the name reads "Global Online Anglican Theological College program." This around-the-world emphasis has the potential to make a difference in more countries. Please keep this in prayer.

Your prayers and continued support are very important for what we do to make a difference. 

 

Prayer requests:

1) Pray that Jesus would be glorified with the words of our mouths, the meditations of our hearts, and that we would make a difference. I preach on Palm Sunday. Julie preaches on Maundy Thursday. 

2) Pray for our parish visitation schedule.

3) Pray for the work I will be doing for the Bishop of Belize this week (with regards to preparing materials for the parishes during vocation-month in Easter season).

 

4) Pray for next mission trip in May, and for what Bishop Philip has asked me to do in preparation for that trip.  

5) Pray for the upcoming changes that need to be made to the Web pages, the proposed new Spanish direction of our program materials - work to begin in May, moving courses along, and for students and faculty.

6) Pray for the people to be ordained (clergy) or licensed (lay people) soon in Belize.

Prayer Mail April 1

Psalm 97: 11-12

Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.

Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name!

We rejoice in You, Lord Jesus Christ for the light that You bring into our lives and for the joy that we have in your salvation.  We thank You for the light and the joy that Father Shaw shared with the people of Belize in his latest trip.  Thank You Lord for the way that Father Shaw is making a difference.

May all of Father Shaw and Mother Julie’s mission work be guided by Your Holy Spirit.  Continue to send them blessings Lord., so that they may always make a difference for You.
